Career Informational Interview

When considering various careers, you can learn additional information that may not be reported on a website from someone currently working in the field. An informational interview is a great way to explore whether that career is something you'd want to pursue. They're a great tool that can be used by students and adults. You may know someone, or you could ask a school counselor to help you find someone to connect with. These steps may be helpful as you set up an interview. You could meet online, for coffee, or for a meal. It can be more formal of an interview, or something you do more informally as you gather with family, friends, and acquaintances around holidays or throughout the year. Check out these questions and more questions. Invite a trusted person along to the interview and to debrief after, as they may have insights to help you determine if that path is right for you.

Additional tips, especially for a more formal interview, or with someone you don't know well: be respectful of their time, have the attitude that you're asking for their advice, and
follow up with a thank you. (Source)
